My Second Favorite Time of Year

Most would agree that the holidays (insert your favorite one here) is the favorite time of year and yes that also holds true for me, but Spring/Pre Summer is a close second for me.  Not because of the weather, BBQs, or sports, but because it usually signals the start of the big time movie season.

I'm a huge fan of movies and generally speaking the studios seem to line up their big action flicks during this time and 2011 is no exception.  It started for me this past weekend with the release of Thor and over the next several weeks, I have Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Hangover Part 2, Green Lantern, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Cowboys & Aliens among others to look forward too.

Movies are terrific in that not only do they generate emotion of all types, but also serve as inspiration.  They can give us all a reprieve from those issues we all have with more work for less money, the car breaking down, or this stupid NFL lockout (don't get me started on that one) and allow us to dream about something bigger for those 2 hours.  If you truly immerse yourself into a movie, you can walk away from it thinking about how great it would be to have a time machine, to go on that ultimate guy trip to Vegas, to be a cool swashbuckling Pirate, or to be the hero that Gotham deserves.  While most of these examples are impossible for us to do today, it just might spark the creativity of someone and inspire them to design and build a time travelling DeLorean.  In the words of John Lennon......Imagine!
